Dr. Sultan Darvesh is the co-founder and the Director of The Maritime Brain Tissue Bank. He obtained his PhD in organic chemistry (1983) followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the University of New Brunswick, MD (1988). He completed his residency in Neurology (FRCPC-1994) at Dalhousie University and a fellowship in Behavioural Neurology at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care at the University of Toronto (1994).
Dr. Darvesh is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine (Geriatric Medicine and Neurology) and Medical Neuroscience at Dalhousie University and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Mount Saint Vincent University. He is also the founder and Director of the Behavioural Neurology Program in the Department of Medicine.
His interest is in assessment and management of patients with cognitive impairment. His basic research involves development of innovative strategies for diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.

Andrew Reid obtained his BSc at Dalhousie University (2000). He has worked in Dr. Darvesh’s laboratory and the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank since 2001.

Meghan Cash completed her BSc (Hons) in biology at Carleton University (2008) and she has been a staff member of the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank and Darvesh Laboratory since 2009.
